Virtual Design & Construction

Virtual design and construction (VDC) is a comprehensive project management approach that helps to analyse and perfect the design phases of construction. When BIM technology is used within VDC, spatial challenges are more effectively resolved.

Our VDC services include the use of a collaborative process on a common platform that enables project stakeholders to modify, update and communicate design details, keep within budget and honor project schedules during all design phases.

As part of our VDC services, we offer seamless coordination of MEP, architecture and structural design, using 3D models created quickly and efficiently. Time schedules, materials quantities, pricing and maintenance details are included as additional information in the models. These models can define goals and priorities early in the design stage and enable the rapid exchange of information. We also offer the entire range of BIM services from LOD 200 to LOD 500 for design development, construction documentation, clash detection, fabrication model and as-built models.

We provide virtual walk-throughs, virtual mock-ups and seamless multi-discipline coordination within our VDC approach. We also provide the following information for architectural, structural and MEP performance:

• Time taken for installation of systems on site
• Time taken for rework in the field
• Number of conflicts between different systems
• Percentage of prefabrication enabled by process
• Percentage of actual prefabrication used by each trade contractor
• Number of change orders

Our VDC process in a nutshell:

• Visualisation: A 3D model is developed for stakeholders, using AutoCAD/Revit.
• Modelling & analysing: The 3D model is analysed, using Navisworks.
• Process modelling: The project is simulated and analysed for potential threats, using Navisworks.
• Online collaboration: Collaboration occurs on the shared model by project teams in different locations.
